Dozens of protesters had spent a week camping Ein Hijeh, in the Jordan Valley. This area was a key point, and the protesters refused to leave it. Then Israeli army moved in with tear-gas to clear out the protesters. The activists had originally started their protest in response to the capture of the Palestinian village in 1967. The activists not only occupied the land, but also started to rebuild the area and even replanted trees.
If this had occurred in America, the protesters wouldn't have experienced such a violent end to their protest, because it would have interfered with their freedom of speech and freedom of assembly. As long as the protesters weren't being violent, they would get no violence in return. Their unconventional political participation would have probably made a bigger impact if they were granted those freedoms, instead of just getting kicked out of the area. I do believe that the way in which the protest was ended was too brutal. The punishment was far worse than the crime. I would also like to say that the Palestinian village should have never been taken in the first place, but I would need more information on the situation to make such a statement.
